a strange one. Many friends wondered how it came about.
Well, it came from one of our then-lesser-known
musical activities, playing in pit orchestras for musicals.
In the fall of 1996 we played in the
orchestra for the wild Stephen Sondheim comedy, A Funny Thing
Happened on the Way to the Forum for the Bloomington Civic
Theatre. Several of our drum corps friends, including the pit conductor,
Lori Maxwell, were in the orchestra.
After the show's last performance, we
wandered around the theater and saw its costume shop. That's when
we abandoned all other Holiday card plans. Roger picked out a very
heavy King Arthur-style robe, and Tina found a Grecian princess
gown and headband that looked like they were made for her.
We had our camera with us to take a final
picture of the pit orchestra and the cast. Lori Maxwell took three
photos on the set, and we had our card, just like that!
